We’re very excited to send you this, our first project report on the building of rescue boats in the community of Banaba in the Philippines!
Banaba sits in a basin flanked on two sides by rivers. Those rivers burst their banks annually when the typhoons come, and when they do the water rises quickly. There are always residents who can’t evacuate in time and are left trapped by the flood waters. Their best hope lies with volunteer rescue teams, but those volunteers can’t rescue anyone without boats!
With your help, we intend to equip more and more rescue teams with a boat so that not a single resident in Banaba has to wait out a flood on a roof with no hope of rescue.
We want to complete our first boat ASAP as the rains will start falling in May, but we need your help! Our first individual boat project here on GlobalGiving will expire on March 26. That means we have 18 days to raise $535.
We’re asking you to give what you can here, or share this link, to help us fund our first rescue boat before the project expires. To sweeten the deal just a little bit more, on Wednesday, March 13th, GlobalGiving will match all donations up to $1,000 by 30%!
We hope you’ll pitch in to help us complete our first boat!
Thanks so much, and warm regards!
