Rumah Zakat Finds Water Source in Remote Hamlet, Grobogan
Grobogan (9/25) – Good news came from Kedung Udal Hamlet, a remote hamlet on the eastern edge of Kedungjati Subdistrict, Grobogan Regency. Rumah Zakat, together with the residents, successfully found a clean water source that the community had long desired.
Kedung Udal Hamlet, which is part of Padas Village, is inhabited by around 91 families. Its isolated location, directly bordering Boyolali Regency, makes it difficult for residents to access basic facilities. The long distance to schools, health centers, and markets, coupled with the geographical conditions surrounded by forests and rivers, have caused the local community to face various limitations.
Until now, the only access for residents to enter and exit the hamlet was through a small bridge that could only be crossed by motorcycles. During the dry season, four-wheeled vehicles could still enter by crossing the river, but when the rainy season arrived, floods often cut off access completely. As a result, children could not go to school, residents had difficulty selling their crops, and even health services were out of reach.
Now, with the discovery of a clean water source by Rumah Zakat together with the residents, new hope has begun to grow. This water source is believed to be very helpful in meeting daily basic needs, from household consumption to supporting social and religious activities.
“Alhamdulillah, this is the answer to our prayers. Until now, we had to struggle hard to get clean water, often relying on river water whose quality was not always good. With this water source, hopefully the lives of the residents of Kedung Udal Hamlet can be better,” said one of the local community leaders.
