Dear Friends&Partners,
In 2021 we launched a sustainability project to keep our school running during this hard economic times. Our School in Githogoro Slum in Nairobi is a charity school where we give access to education to less fortunate children in the slum.
We came up with farming idea and after survey we got a land in a semi-arid area south of Nairobi. around 130 miles. We started an orange farm where we have currently planted 1000 oranges stems in 5000 squaremetres piece of land. This July Season we had a first harvest of 500 Kilograms.
This is a great success first fruits. The crop has entirely depended on scarce rain water.
If we can irrigiae the land we are able to harvest 20,000 tonnes of oranges annually .
Now we are appealing for help to dig a borehole to irrigate the farm. If we have enough water we are able to grow other crops like pawpaws and water melons.
Our budget for borehole and storages tanks and piping is 20,000 USD.
Attached is a simple summary of budget for the borehole.
