Mary, a mother of two, joined the programme while running a small homebased business without adequate skills. Through the sessions, she is gaining practical skills in budgeting, recordkeeping, and identifying growth opportunities. She has shared that the training has already helped her better understand how to manage her income and plan better, giving her renewed confidence in her ability to support her family.
During the past quarter, Women Action Foundation Kenya has made meaningful progress toward strengthening women’s economic empowerment at the community level. We successfully mobilised and enrolled 25 women into our entrepreneurship training programme, marking an important milestone in launching this project. The training is currently underway and is scheduled to run for 4–6 months, with completion expected in June.
Our activities have focused on community outreach, participant selection, and the delivery of structured entrepreneurship training sessions. These sessions continue to emphasize foundational business skills, savings and financial literacy, and preparation for access to future seed support. The strong attendance and high engagement from participants reflect the relevance of the programme and the commitment of the women involved.
As the training phase continues, WAF Kenya is preparing for the next stages of the project, including the planned establishment of community childcare centres and seed grants for trained women. These components will build on the capacity already being developed, enabling women to fully apply their skills and strengthen their livelihoods while balancing caregiving responsibilities.
