WAF-Kenya is supporting women to move from vulnerability to resilient livelihoods through a care-enabled livelihood pathway. We organise women into savings groups, provide entrepreneurship and livelihood training, offer seed grants and coaching, and connect women to market opportunities while addressing unpaid care burdens. The project will support 300 low-income women to build savings , strengthen livelihoods, increase income, and create more secure futures for themselves and their families.
Women in rural Kenya work hard to support their families, yet many remain trapped in poverty due to limited access to savings, capital, skills, markets, and stable livelihood opportunities. Unpaid care responsibilities further reduce the time available for training, business, and income generation. As a result, many women struggle to build sustainable incomes, improve household well-being, and become resilient to economic shocks.
WAFKenya will provide a community-based poverty graduation pathway that helps women build resilient livelihoods. Participants will join savings groups, receive business and livelihood training, access seed grants, and benefit from coaching and mentorship. The project will also strengthen market access and reduce barriers to participation caused by unpaid care responsibilities, enabling women to increase their income, savings, and long-term economic resilience.
The project will help 300 women build resilient livelihoods, increase household income, strengthen savings, and reduce vulnerability to economic shocks. Women will gain greater confidence, decision-making power, and financial independence while creating sustainable income opportunities for their families. Over time, improved livelihoods will contribute to better education, nutrition, health, and economic resilience, helping communities break cycles of poverty and build more secure futures.
