Changing Lives in Uganda

Women and children on the Baker Farm
Women and children on the Baker Farm

It is time again to give an update on our funds disbursement for housing construction at Stephen Baker Farm.

In 2021, Kassanda Children’s Aid (KCA) has done a number of activities funded by friends, organizations and partners on both the local and international level. This report highlights some of the projects below:

 ACTIVITIES /PROJECTS CARRIED OUT

  1. Education support for OVC’s
  2. Housing construction
  3. Health and medical support
  4. Food and nutrition help
  5. Sanitation and water supply to vulnerable households
  6. Spiritual growth nourishment
  7. Gender based violence control and prevention
  8. Child protection and legal support

We continue sponsorships for 12 of our original Get School students as schools opened in Uganda after a long 2 years of being closed due to cover restrictions.

Our school, Seed Junior School could finally open up on Jan 10th 2022. We are known to be one in the community with a good reputation of taking care of it’s teachers and students. We have 7 out of 10 teachers who are fully sponsored. It was so rewarding for our sponsors to look after our teachers, even though they could not work during the pandemic, they could eat, pay their rent and care for their families. We still pray about the remaining 3 teachers to get fully sponsored too.

Recently we could shelter two more mothers and their children. The first was Brenda, her husband neglected her after giving birth to triplets yet they had 2 other children together. The district referred Brenda to us and we sincerely thank our partners who gave generously to her cause. She is now settled at Stephen Baker Farm in her new house with all her children. Rusiya is the new one coming, she did not experience any happiness at all with her husband who used to emotionally and physically abuse her. When she tried to escape,  he searched for her and took her back home promising not to repeat the offenses but after few days he was repeating the same behavior and the situation even got worse with attempted murder.  The local authorities confirmed all this. Their boys had no bedding, just slept on the ground and lacked all their basic needs like food and clothing. Now they have access to food at our farm.  Rusiya wants to undertake skills in tailoring but she does not have the tuition and necessary materials to do so. If you would like to help her, please reach out on our Facebook page or website.

We would like to thank our project planner, Mrs Lisa who after seeing the gap to help validated and vulnerable mothers and children who have been mistreated or neglected by their husbands, helped us put this project together to build 5 more women safe housing, giving them the dignity they deserve. We are so thankful to Mrs Patricia from USA who donated the land in honor of her son, and has agreed to allow us to use some of this land for this housing project.

We have already started on our first house out of the 5 homes per our planned project and hope you enjoy this update and the pictures. We thank each one of you who comes alongside of us on this journey to make life better for those who would have no hope otherwise.
