This project will build and furnish 5 homes for disadvantaged widows and their children in Kassanda District of Uganda. We aim to strengthen families by providing brick homes for secure, healthier living with support of small community. Single mothers caught in the cycle of poverty, are often illiterate, malnourished and unable to meet their children's basic security needs.
The right to adequate housing is a basic human dignity that governments ignore. Families without shelter causes family disruption, unwanted and/or abandoned children, psychological trauma and loss of a sense of belonging. Many live in makeshift homes that are constructed of sticks, mud and dirt floors which causes health problems and lack being secure.
We concentrate our efforts on providing families in dire need with secure housing. Thriving communities must begin with improved living situations and quality of life. Grouping several family homes together also allows them to build supportive relationships to assist each other.
Building practical homes that are affordable to maintain gives families a chance to thrive. It becomes the foundation to make stronger, more welcoming communities by lowering violence and mental health issues. Lastly, it improves children's educational and health status.
