Panay Center for Disaster Response (PCDR) Organized and successfully conducted Community-based Disaster Management Training for Trainers.
Part of the efforts in strengthening preparedness and recovery of communities affected by different disasters is providing capacity building training on Community-based Disaster Management to prepare vulnerable sectors during peacetime.
PCDR, with technical support from the Citizens' Disaster Response Center, has successfully conducted Community-Based Disaster Response Center (CBDM) Training of Trainers. The participants were from different People's Organizations and formations representing youth, women, church people, urban poor, peasant, and fisherfolk from all over Western Visayas.
In the 5-day training, the 5 modules on CBDM were delivered and taught to the participants. Basic Concepts and technical knowledge were discussed, shared, and different activities and workshops were conducted. The highlights of the training include giving importance of community participation in conducting the Hazards, Vulnerability, and Capacity Assessment (HVCA) to gather accurate information and data. It also helped making a detailed and concrete Community Disaster Action Plan or CDAP.
The training/ aims to develop new trainers/ instructors that will help to cascade and lead in conducting CBDM training and workshops in their respective provinces and communities.
