Project Report | Dec 19, 2023
Christmas is near, and so is the end of 2023!

By Caroline Warren | Volunteer

As we bid farewell to 2023, Books and Bread for Kenya (BBK) extends heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters, both longstanding and newfound. Your generosity has illuminated the path of hope, particularly during this festive season, prompting reflection on our circumstances and the well-being of those we hold dear.

As of December 2023, BBK is caring for 44 orphaned, abandoned, or neglected children in Kenya, ensuring they receive the fundamental pillars of life: housing, education, healthcare, clothing, and nourishment.

The Powerhouse has played a pivotal role in our mission this year, raising funds for the leaders Martha and Rosalia. With these resources, they've acquired 60 chicks, built a chicken house, established a shop, and obtained seeds for crops, laying the foundation for self-sustainability and prosperity.

In Barani Village and Pentagon Village, the less fortunate have been embraced with essential support, through food distribution drives held throughout the year. In addition, we've worked closely with local school teacher Betty to provide school uniforms and reusable sanitary wear, as well as housing rent, repairs to the water-well and healthcare, addressing the holistic needs of these communities.

The ongoing commitment of BBK echoes in our fundraising initiatives, dedicated to securing support for the 44 children for the next four years until they complete their education. Your sustained contributions are the bedrock of a brighter future for these young minds.

The shop in Chester Le Street stands as a testament to success, with Christmas donations pouring in. The community spirit radiates through the generous donations from the church and sales through Christmas stalls. Rose's upcoming event promises even more support.

This year the Christmas Gift in Kindness initiative revolves around purchasing school uniforms for the children at Barani Village School, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to care and education for the children in need. The flyer attached. Uniforms can also be donated towards via GlobalGIving

As the year draws to a close, we are immensely grateful for the collective effort that has left a beautiful impact on the lives of those in need.

Together, we are constructing a foundation of hope and empowerment for a brighter future.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Books and Bread for Kenya family. Wishing you a joyous and fulfilling holiday season.
