In September 2021 BBK participated in the GlobalGiving Accelerator to raise funds to build classroom at our rescue centre Mother’s Vision, Kenya. We were blown away with the generosity of so many of you and were totally thrilled to have raised a staggering USD $ 4700!
Mothers’ Vision Recue Centre is in Mtwapa, Mombasa, Kilifi South Kenya. The institution deals in helping abused boys/girls, abandoned children, orphans and destitute children aged 0 - 18 years.
BBK provides for clothing, school fees, medical care, and for emergency repairs such as a new roof at the centre damaged by vicious storms, BBK encourages developments at the institution including building classrooms on site.
Together with team leader Susan, it was decided that classrooms could be built onsite at Mothers’ vision. These government standard new classrooms will be a haven to empower, educate and support the children at the centre and in the surrounding community.
Since raising funds via GlobalGiving, team leader Susan has fallen very sick and has been hospitalised for many months. Latest news is that she should be operated on by the end of January. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
Mothers’ Vision continues to run under the supervision of Demaris and Lucy, and children continue to be cared for in the best possible way. Many new children entered the centre before Christmas and have settled in well.

Amini, a wonderful young man who BBK helped over the last 12 years, has volunteered to help Susan with the classroom project. The architect drawings have been completed and as we type, we are waiting for these to give our approval.
BBK set around USD $10,000 to complete the project, plus furnishings and equipment, and despite Covid we will continue our fundraising efforts.
On 17th September 2022, BBK will be holding a black-tie fundraising event called ‘Out of Africa’ at the 5* hotel Ramside Hall, County Durham which will include a 3 course meal. Live entertainment, auction and more!
Together we are working to achieve our goal!
