The lifting of the Covid-19 related restrictions allowed our staff to finish the process of building the structure of the Bakery in the month of April and, since then, many new developments have characterised our project. The growing collaboration with the “Kids Feeding” project of Amami Social Project has allowed Kito to further promote its efforts in guaranteeing balanced meals to the children of Mindoro Island! Meanwhile, the effective training programs that ensure that the indigenous communities dispose of the skills and means to help the bakery flourish have further increased.
The trainings promoted with the help of Stairway Foundation, which were aimed at teaching the local population how to bake and sell pastries and cinnamon rolls, represented a very fruitful experience for the community.
The bakery project represents a fundamental tool in challenging the dangers of malnourishment and unemployment in Mindoro Island, constituting a mean through which the local population could become directly involved in the process of economic and social development, concretely improving their living conditions and fighting against social inequalities.
