By Paola Vecchiato | President of Kito
As Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, Kito was able to begin the construction works of the Bakery in Talipanan, Mindoro Island! Volunteer Rita and I arrived in the Philippines at the beginning of March and immediately started preparing for the project Kito Empowers. Thanks to the partnership with the local organization Amami Social Project, we were able to finish the building of the bakery in three weeks. We provided the structure with the necessary equipment and we are now polishing with the final details. Within the next weeks we will start the trainings to the indigenous community living in the area so that they will be part of the wider community.
During the construction works, we have been supporting other initiatives that will be regularly provided once the Bakery officially kicks off. To fight kids' malnourishment, we already took part in two kids' feeding, providing good and healthy food for the kids aged below 15, most of which were between 4 and 8 years old.
