We share some of the activities and experiences working and supporting girls at risk of FGM.
Our interventions during this period include carrying out village &home visits for girls at risk during this reporting period, distributing menstrual kits and providing basic essential for girls at risk.
During this period we visited over 70 homes and 5 villages reaching approximately 250 girls. We were able to identify some of the gaps that exist within the villages and challenges the girls face.
We supported the girls with menstrual kits to sustain them during this period including sanitary pads, panties, soap and tissue. The support has increased retention of girls in schools reducing their risk of FGM,Child marriage and other forms of violence.
In addition we provided basic essentials such as food ,clothing, shelter for girls who needed support as a result of being at risk of FGM,Child Marriage and sexual violence. The support has enabled the girls feel safe.
This period gave us an opportunity to reflect on the challenges girls face, listening to them and their families, this helped us strengthen our relations with their families.
From the stakeholders meetings we have received information that the community members are already planning to cut the girls during the december holiday. We are looking forward to sharing updates on this and working to ensure at risk girls are kept safe.
Thank you for supporting our work.Check out our social media pages for more updates.
