Protecting Mothers & Families in Climate-Vulnerable Dulag

By Team Bumi Sehat | Project Leaders

Dear Friends,

Bumi Wadah’s Dulag clinic continues to provide essential maternal health care in a medically underserved community where families often struggle to afford healthcare. In 2025, Bumi Wadah delivered 268 babies, 583 prenatal check-ups, 288 post-partum checks and 256 newborn health screenings, demonstrating the significant, ongoing demand for accessible pregnancy and birth services. But the clinic’s role extends well beyond maternal care.

The Philippines experiences some of the most severe impacts of the climate crisis, and the Dulag communities remain vulnerable to displacement, insecure housing and the aftermath of disasters. The clinic therefore plays an important role in disaster response, supporting displaced and post-disaster families alongside its pregnancy and birth services. Disaster relief has become a substantial part of the clinic’s work. In 2025, staff delivered 1264 disaster relief Roxas, 600 hygiene kits, 600 hot meals for displaced person, 181 food packets, 1230 meals for stunted children. They also donated bedding, household items and food supply sacks for 66 families affected by disasters.

Although this project has received fewer donations than Bumi Sehat’s Indonesia-based projects, the need in Dulag remains urgent. Building a permanent clinic will allow Bumi Wadah Philippines to continue providing free or by-donation midwifery care to families who might otherwise have to choose between healthcare and basic necessities such as food.

We are still working towards our goal of a permanent facility. This will give our clinic staff a stable base from which to provide both maternal healthcare and disaster-response services for years to come.

with love & gratitude

Ibu Robin Lim and Team Bumi Wadah
