The Bumi Sehat clinic in San Jose, Dulag, offers critical maternal health care in a medically underserved area. San Jose has a high percentage of at-risk teen mothers who need accessible midwifery care and there is steady demand for pre-natal and birth services from both local families and internally displaced persons. The lease is ending on our current clinic and we need to build a permanent facility to continue offering gentle, loving midwifery & maternal health care to the local population.
We need to build a permanent clinic in San Jose, Dulag, a medically underserved area, as our current leased facility must be vacated. San Jose has a high percentage of at-risk teen mothers, displaced persons and people in insecure housing who need regular access to midwifery care but can't afford the cost. The midwives at the temporary Bumi Sehat clinic treat 120 pre-natal patients and deliver 17 babies each month so there is strong, steady demand for pre-natal and birth services in the area.
Our Director has purchased land near the current Bumi Sehat site and we need funds to build a permanent facility. With a new, permanent clinic, Bumi Sehat can provide ongoing accessible maternal health care in a medically underserved area for people who can't afford the cost of healthcare and will go without care to buy food or other staples.
Bumi Sehat can continue to deliver needed maternal health and birth services to the local population (48,992) which is medically underserved. Locals and people internally displaced after Typhoon Haiyan can't afford the standard cost of medical care so having access to by-donation care means they won't skip medical treatment for lack of ability to pay. Bumi Sehat can also help improve medical and health outcomes for at-risk teen mothers.
