Kalo Telema plans to build a medical center and water wells to provide healthcare and clean water for people who live in this poorest and enclosed region in DR Congo. This project to build a medical center (maternity, nutrition center included) will provide health care and clean water to more than 33000 people. They do not have access to healthcare and clean water because there is no medical infrastructures and no water wells for the clean water in this area.
About 33000 people do not have health facilities and clean water. Located in the Bandundu province (295,658 km2 and 9,892,467 people). Low health coverage and no health facilities. Only 3 pharmacists and 148 doctors. People walk over 300 kilometers to find a medical. This causes more deaths. Malnutrition and unsafe water causes many illnesses and deaths. 8 out of 10 children are malnourished. One child dies every hour. Women give birth at home, in the fields. No midwives assistance.
The medical centre will serve patients; give women the opportunity to give birth in human conditions and children to grow in good conditions. This will also reduce the rate of infant and maternal mortality Water wells will give people clean water to reduce the deaths caused by the waterborne diseases. By providing healthcare and clean water, solving the problem of deliveries and malnourished children, the labor force will work to develop the community and to fight the poverty.
This project will: Serve 3300 people allowing them to rise out of the poverty Provide for their families health and well-being, Create more jobs opportunities Minimize problem of accessibility in terms of distance to find a medical center Make accessible health services to the population by the reducing the cost of health care. Help people to learn the basic rules of hygiene
