Progress and Need

Thanks to your generosity, the Mayor Potencial Health Clinic in El Rodeito, Honduras, is becoming a reality! In April 2026, we celebrated a major milestone when our partners at CapeCares conducted the first medical and dental brigade inside the new clinic. For families who have long faced barriers to accessing healthcare, this was an exciting step forward.

And construction hasn't stopped! Over the summer, our team made important improvements to make the clinic safer, more comfortable, and more functional. A new entrance gate has been installed, protective fencing now surrounds the elevated walkways, and a covered waiting area provides patients with shelter from the sun. Work is also progressing on interior partitions and new flooring, while the team addresses water quality and other improvements needed for future medical visits.

These improvements may not sound glamorous, but they make an enormous difference. Safe walkways, clean floors, private treatment spaces, and comfortable waiting areas are essential to providing quality healthcare with dignity.

Now we need your help to keep the momentum going.

As CapeCares focuses on medical missions, medicines, and equipment, Mayor Potencial is taking the lead in raising funds to complete the clinic's construction. There is still important work ahead, and every contribution helps us move closer to a fully functioning healthcare facility that can serve El Rodeito and surrounding communities for years to come.

What is happening with the Health Clinic

Building Hope, One Step at a Time

Thanks to your incredible generosity, construction of the Mayor Potencial Health Clinic continues to move forward. This spring marked an exciting milestone: during our April brigade, the medical team was able to hold the first medical brigade inside the new clinic. Seeing patients in the new space was a powerful reminder of how your support is transforming healthcare for this community.

Your donations have funded essential construction materials and improvements, including windows, doors, plumbing, structural steel, painting supplies, electrical work, the kitchen and dental treatment areas, and transportation of materials to the site. The clinic now has improved lighting throughout, a guard post for added security, and equipment has been successfully moved from Los Encinitos to the new facility in El Rodeito.

Using the clinic also helped us identify the final improvements needed before it can fully serve the community. We are now working to seal the concrete floors to reduce dust, install safety fencing and permanent entrance gates, improve the driveway for safer access during heavy rains, enhance patient flow throughout the building, and develop long-term solutions for safe water. These finishing touches will make the clinic safer, more efficient, and more welcoming for both patients and the volunteer medical teams who serve them.

Every dollar entrusted to this project is carefully managed to bring us closer to a fully functioning community health clinic that will serve families for years to come.
