This project will build the Vimukthi Foundation International Language Centre to give underprivileged children and youth in rural Sri Lanka free access to English and other global languages. Equipped with IT labs, classrooms, and counselling spaces, the centre will empower young learners with communication, digital, and life skills-opening pathways to education, confidence, and a brighter future.
In rural Sri Lanka, limited access to English and digital education leaves children and youth-especially girls and vulnerable groups-disadvantaged and isolated. Lacking these skills, they are excluded from higher education, decent jobs, and global opportunities. Poverty and lack of guidance deepen struggles, trapping many in cycles of dependence. The absence of learning spaces widens the gap between potential and opportunity, dimming hopes for a brighter, self-reliant future.
The Vimukthi Foundation International Language Centre will offer free, inclusive education in English and other global languages with modern IT and digital learning. It will equip children and youth with communication, computer, and life skills for higher education and employment. Alongside academics, counselling, cultural exchange, and mentorship will build confidence, values, and purpose-empowering young people to overcome barriers and create lasting change.
The Centre will help underprivileged children & youth gain essential language, digital, & interpersonal skills for meaningful lives. As graduates enter universities, workplaces, and global networks, they become role models and changemakers. The Centre will serve as a hub for cultural exchange and lifelong learning-promoting understanding, compassion, & peace. Over time, it will break cycles of poverty and exclusion, empowering a new generation to thrive with confidence & purpose
