Games and Sports Field Update Report - August 2026

By Samwel Kimani | Program Director

We are pleased to share continued progress on the Tumaini Games and Sports Field, which is steadily evolving into a vibrant and functional space for recreation, learning, and community engagement.

Since the last update, we have continued planting grass across the field to improve ground cover and strengthen the playing surface. We have also continued filling the corners and uneven sections with imported topsoil and leveling the ground to create a safer and more uniform surface.

The field is already being used by students for regular soccer activities. This is an important milestone as the space increasingly supports physical activity, teamwork, recreation, and practical learning.

The next phase will focus on completing the sports facilities and making the field fully usable for different activities. We need additional resources to install the soccer goal posts and mark the soccer pitch, as well as prepare and mark dedicated areas for basketball and the outside gym. These improvements will allow more students to participate in a wider range of sports and physical activities.

The outside gym fabrication project has also begun through the welding class engineering education program. Students are applying practical skills to fabricate equipment that will serve the Tumaini community. Additional funding is needed to complete the outside gym area, including installation and preparation of the designated space.

We remain grateful for the continued support that is making this transformation possible. The field is becoming more than a sports ground and a living classroom and an important investment in the health, wellbeing, teamwork, and practical development of Tumaini learners. We are now seeking support to complete the remaining sports infrastructure, particularly goal posts, field marking, basketball facilities, and the outside gym area.
