The boys’ dorm is almost complete! This marks the end of phase 1 of the project. The 2nd phase will begin with the construction of the girls’ dorm.
We have also received support to rescue street children and support them to avoid contracting the corona virus on the streets. So far, we have rescued 113 street boys and placed 59 at home.
Once the dorm is complete, we will recruit those who have settled at home after repatriation to join our program. We are lucky that the new dorm accommodating 100 boys is 3 weeks away from being complete!
At Tumaini Innovation Center they will go through rehabilitation, basic accelerated education, engineering, vocational training, and ultimately permanent reintegration back to their communities.
We have raised $33,484 USD out of the total 75,000 USD. We have used this to complete the boys’ dorm and will now embark on building the girls’ dorm.
With the efforts through GlobalGiving, we are confident to scale the organization's successful efforts to more boys and girls in the streets of Eldoret.
Student report: Deriki
Deriki has just been recently rescued from the streets during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is among those rescued as a way of preventing them from contracting the corona virus.
He is super excited to sleep in the new dorm. “When are they going to complete it,” he keeps on asking.
