I’d like to tell you about one of the families you help by supporting the project to build a new Boys & Girls Club at Golden West College. Rolando is a hard-working, devoted single dad to a preschooler and a school age child. He works a full 40 hours a week. On top of that, he goes to school full-time at Golden West College. The Club's preschool on campus is changing his life. He writes:
“I am taking the necessary steps to improve my children’s future by getting an education myself. I was fortunate enough to qualify for grants and financial aid to make the schooling possible for me. I have faith that furthering my education will open more doors for us, so it is an opportunity that I must take. But, if I was not able to place my daughter in your preschool I would have to drop out of school."
He goes on to talk about what the preschool means to his daughter. "I believe that children will need all the help they can get to prepare them for the future. My concern is for my daughter’s future. I truly believe enrolling her in this preschool is a stepping stone in the right direction not only for her education but for her social skills as well. There is only so much I can teach her not having an adequate educational background myself. Sure I focus on the little things here and there that parents should teach their children, however the need to establish a concrete educational foundation is crucial in the early years. I want my child to have every opportunities to succeed. I truly believe it is in her best interest to be in preschool at the Boys & Girls Club."
By supporting the project to build a new school age Boys & Girls Club at Golden West College, you will give even more families of kids of all ages those same great opportunities for both parents and children to learn. Your generosity opens the door to a new Boys & Girls Club and so many families' great futures. Thank you!
