You can help 2500 kids a year by building a new Boys & Girls Club at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA. When you make a donation, you open the door to homework help, computer education, sports leagues, fitness programs, arts, nutrition and cooking classes, leadership clubs, life skills, community service, and lots more. Located on a community college campus, this new Club will inspire generations of kids to go to college. You can help disadvantaged kids open the door to a great future.
Right now, thousands of kids in the Huntington Beach community need a safe place to learn and play after school and during the summer. Parents have trouble working or going back to school because they lack reliable childcare or kids are left home alone and unsupervised. In the Ocean View School District, more than 2600 of the 9500 enrolled children are socioeconomically disadvantaged. These children and their parents need the opportunities the Club's affordable programs provide.
BGCHV will build a new "Family Campus" within the campus of Golden West College. With a preschool already in place, the organization is now fundraising to build a Club for school age kids and a gymnasium, opening in 2015. The Family Campus will serve up to 2,500 children per year. They will have homework help, tutoring, computer education, nutrition education, cooking classes, sports leagues, fitness programs, leadership clubs, life skills programs, and lots more in a safe, caring environment
2,500 children per year will benefit from the Club's programs. An economic impact study completed in 2011 shows that every $1 you donate to the Club results in $16.18 for the community. Low income parents will have the opportunity to work or go back to school because they will have affordable care for their children. Kids will do better in school as well as gain important social and life skills. The support kids get at the Club will open the door to a great future, filled with success.
