The Zimbabwean nation did not start the year 2019 on a good economic and political spirit. Beginning of 2019 was marked by strikes resulting in all round instability. The economic environment was also unsound with the local currency, that is, the bond note being devalued against the United States Dollar. This move has resulted in the sky rocketing of all prices of basic commodities and services thereby affecting development projects as well. Like all other development projects, Build 2 Classrooms for 400 Children in Zimbabwe was also negatively affected. As prices continue to escalate, it is difficult for communities to mobilise the necessary resources for their development projects
The project has so far received donations amounting to US$3, 022.00. A substantial amount of US$ 36 978.00 is still required to make this dream come true for the people of Mangwe district. Although this is still too far away from the target, CFWRZ has not lost hope in finding means of attaining the required funds. The Foundation’s main drive in attaining funding is in encouraging this particular community in adopting community philanthropy concept, as it proves to work in other communities within the same district.
Through this concept, the community will engage on social enterprise projects so as to enable the growth of the existing amount. One of the social enterprise projects that this community has proposed is the microcredit facility which will see the growth of the existing amount by 10% per month. If the communities are granted the go ahead they will be able to raise at least US$300. 00 per month. By the end of a twelve month period they would have raised a total amount of US$3 600.00 through the micro-credit facility.
As an organisation we believe that children learn better when they view the learning environment as positive. We believe too that education is key in moulding communities that have knowledge and are elf sustainable. Even though the construction of this school may be a challenge now, CFWRZ will continue to back the communities until the vision is realised. Proposals will continue to be sent to various donors. Other Fundraising methods have been lined up in the organisation’s work plan.
We have realised with much appreciation that even though the dream of constructing Mapukane School may seem to be taking long, communities are determined to fulfil it. The fact that at the beginning of the year we received funding from one donor I a sign that all stakeholders are confident and hopeful to see the realisation of this project dream.
The communities are still appealing for support. Kindly share this initiative within your circles. CFWRZ will continue to update you on progress made in the construction of the school.
