This project will build and equip 10 neonatal care units in Ghana to provide life-saving medical care for newborn babies, especially premature and critically ill infants. Many hospitals and rural health facilities lack specialized neonatal units, putting vulnerable newborns at high risk of complications and death. This project will improve access to quality newborn healthcare and help reduce infant mortality in underserved communities.
Newborn deaths remain a major health challenge in Ghana due to limited access to specialized neonatal care services. Many healthcare facilities lack incubators, oxygen support, monitoring equipment, and trained staff needed to care for premature babies and infants with serious medical conditions. Delayed or inadequate treatment often results in preventable newborn deaths.
This project will construct and equip 10 neonatal care units with essential medical equipment, neonatal beds, incubators, oxygen systems, and monitoring devices. Healthcare workers will also receive training in newborn intensive care and emergency neonatal treatment to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
The project will improve newborn survival rates, strengthen maternal and child healthcare services, and reduce preventable infant deaths in Ghana. Families will benefit from better access to specialized neonatal care close to their communities. Over time, the project will contribute to stronger healthcare systems and healthier childhood development.
