This project will build 10 maternity wards in rural Ghana to improve access to safe maternal and newborn healthcare services. Many pregnant women in underserved communities give birth in overcrowded facilities or without skilled medical support due to inadequate healthcare infrastructure. This project will provide safe and well-equipped spaces for deliveries, prenatal care, and postnatal services to help protect mothers and newborns.
Rural communities in Ghana often face serious shortages of maternity healthcare infrastructure. Existing facilities are frequently overcrowded, under-resourced, or too far away for pregnant women to access in emergencies. This contributes to preventable maternal and infant deaths, birth complications, and poor health outcomes.
This project will construct 10 maternity wards equipped to support safe deliveries and maternal healthcare services in selected rural communities. The wards will provide space for prenatal care, childbirth, postnatal care, and emergency maternal support. Community engagement and partnerships with healthcare providers will help ensure sustainable operation and quality care.
The project will improve maternal and newborn survival rates, increase access to skilled birth care, and strengthen rural healthcare systems. Women will have safer childbirth experiences and improved healthcare support during pregnancy and after delivery. Over time, this project will contribute to healthier families and stronger communities.
