Bring Textbooks to 360 Kids in Rural Ethiopia

This year, students at Genanaw Kerse Memorial School received much-needed textbooks, giving them consistent access to reading and lesson materials for the first time. The books are already making a visible difference in classrooms. Students follow along together, reread lessons during free moments, and carefully share materials so that everyone can participate.

Even with limited resources, children show real enthusiasm for reading. Books are treated with care, passed between classmates, and used again and again. Teachers report that having textbooks has improved lesson flow and student focus, allowing learning time to be used more effectively.

Donations for this project have been limited, but every contribution has mattered. The children are accustomed to making the most of what they have, and they meet these challenges with resilience, cooperation, and determination to learn. Still, the need for additional textbooks remains, as many students must share, and some classes do not yet have enough books for every child.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make textbook access possible this year. Continued support will allow us to expand book access, reduce sharing gaps, and strengthen reading skills for more students in the coming year

This year, the school formerly known as Genet Miriam Primary School was renamed Genanaw Kerse Memorial School, honoring the vision and generosity that continue to inspire the work of Genanaw Foundation. The renaming marks a renewed commitment to expanding educational opportunity for children in this community.

Thanks to the continued support of our generous donors, we once again provided essential school supplies for every student — including notebooks, pens, pencils, and other classroom materials. This year, we were also able to provide textbooks, giving students and teachers a stronger foundation for structured classroom learning. Families have expressed deep gratitude for the reliable support that helps their children stay in school.

While we celebrate this progress, the needs remain significant. The children still lack desks, school uniforms, bookshelves, backpacks, lunch boxes, and access to a computer lab. Classrooms remain under-equipped, and resources are limited. Yet the atmosphere at Genanaw Kerse Memorial School is one of hope and determination.

We are profoundly grateful that, through your generosity, we have been able to provide the basics — and to demonstrate that even modest, consistent support can transform the learning experience for these students.

Looking ahead, our goal for 2026 is to furnish every classroom with sturdy desks, provide each child with a school uniform, and begin establishing a small computer lab to introduce students to digital literacy. With your continued partnership, we can ensure that every child at Genanaw Kerse Memorial School has the tools and environment they deserve to learn and thrive.
