MSI Tanzania is committed to reaching young women and girls with the sexual and reproductive healthcare they want and deserve. Adolescents often struggle to access judgment-free, high-quality reproductive healthcare. That's why we deliver youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services alongside economic empowerment opportunities. In 2025, we reached over 54,000 young women in Zanzibar, reducing maternal deaths and increasing family planning adoption. Your support makes this possible.
Pregnancy is the leading cause of death for adolescent girls in Africa. In East and Southern Africa, 1 in 4 girls become pregnant before 20 - in some communities, 1 in 2. In Tanzania, where nearly half the population is under 17, 22% of girls are already mothers or pregnant. With little sexual education, few youth-friendly services, and stigma blocking care, too many girls are denied the chance to stay in school, stay safe, and shape their own futures.
The solution will deliver sustainable, long-term improvements in the lives of young people across Zanzibar by providing reproductive healthcare tailored to adolescents and integrating life skills training to empower youth both socially and economically.
Your support will help create lasting change for young people in Zanzibar - especially girls - by building an environment where they can learn, earn, and thrive. Together, we aim to reach more than 2,300 adolescents with sexual and reproductive health services and equip 4,000 young people with entrepreneurship skills for a more prosperous future. We will strengthen public health systems, deliver youth-centered services, and mobilize peer educators to generate demand and reduce stigma.
