For nearly nine decades, Tizo lived in a mud structure with a leaking palm roof and dirt floors. Rainy seasons meant flooding, and nights were lit only by flickering candles, leaving her to pray every evening for her grandchildren's safety from pests and venomous snakes. Until recently, she had never even flipped on a light switch.
Today, everything is different. Tizo’s home is one of five in her village sponsored through your support of Shelter Equity and built by a team of local, skilled laborers.
This project represents our holistic model in action, bringing direct poverty relief right to her doorstep:
We were there to celebrate her new beginning and spoke to Tizo about the transformation:
"Now I want to live longer to enjoy my new life. God has remembered me in my old age through this blessing."
Thank you for being part of our work to create sustainable pathways out of poverty through safe housing, clean water, and bicycle mobility. Together, we are helping families build their foundation to a better tomorrow.
