Tingathe is a Malawian NGO which provides free-of-charge vocational training to the most vulnerable youth in Malawi; those living in peri-urban areas. As such, our students have difficulties attending class due to the transport costs incurred in daily travel. This project will enable Tingathe to purchase a bus which will transport our students to and from classes on a daily basis. This will enable our youth to thrive in their education by ensuring that they successfully complete their education
Peri-urban areas are overpopulated, impoverished, and many youth, especially girls, are forced to drop out of school due to socioeconomic issues. Tingathe partners with these youth, providing free education in vocational skills, giving them the tools to thrive in their communities. However, our students, coming from vulnerable backgrounds, often can't afford the travel costs to come to class. This project will ensure that 70 at risk youth never miss a class and are given the chance to flourish.
This project will remove the barriers which prevent our students from fully benefiting from our courses. By enabling the youth to attend our life-changing program, they will be able to graduate and successfully find employment or start their own businesses in their communities.
The project will ensure that 70 at risk youth in our current cohort are able to benefit from the programs we offer, thus allowing them to fulfill their potential. As a long-term, sustainable investment, the bus will also allow over 400 students in the next two years to have access to our programs. This project will enable us to more effectively address the issue of endemic poverty in the communities we work in.
