Great news about Lemoa Lake Project!

By Carla Ferraro | Executive Director

On July 2nd and 3rd, 191 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered at Lemoa Lake in Guatemala.  This community is located near one large dump, and houses hundreds of dogs and cats who spend their lifes looking for food in garbage.

A few weeks before the event, our partner organization "Guaus y Miaus Guatemala" visited the community in order to educate owners in the importance of spay and neuter, plus make appointments for surgery.  All community members learned about the benefits of spay and neuter, not only to control population but also to improve the health of the animals.

Our financial goal for this project was $5,000 and we were able to raise $2,157.20.  SNIP Foundation provided some extra funding up to $3,000 and this allowed us to reach almost 200 animals.

On November 2nd, we will be offering another spay and neuter blitz for 27 pets.  This is from a private donation and from other individual donations that we have received thru GlobalGiving after the clinics in July.  We will continue looking for additional funding to reach our goal of 275 pets, please consider helping us with another donation and also sharing the project with your friends!
