We extend our sincere gratitude to all supporters, as well as to those considering support for our work. On behalf of Peace Winds Korea, we wish you a joyful and meaningful year ahead as we begin the new year.
This report highlights a special Christmas celebration held at the child-care center we support in Sitio Bakal, one of the most vulnerable communities in Metro Manila, Philippines.
In the Philippines, Christmas is the most significant annual celebration, with preparations beginning as early as September. In anticipation of this important occasion, teachers, parents, and volunteers at the child-care center worked collaboratively over several weeks. Mothers of enrolled children gathered in advance to clean the center and its surrounding area—an important symbol of hope and community ownership—and decorated the space with colorful balloons.
The Christmas party welcomed all enrolled children and their families. Home-cooked meals were prepared by parents, and the center provided macaroni, a favorite among the children. The event included games, a dance contest, gift exchanges, and the distribution of Christmas presents from the center, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere.
For many children in this community, opportunities for celebration and recreation are limited. This event was made possible through the dedication of Wilma, a volunteer teacher at the center, the active involvement of parents, and the generosity of supporters through Peace Winds Korea. Their collective efforts contributed to strengthening community ties and supporting children’s emotional well-being.
Despite these positive moments, significant challenges remain. The child-care center building continues to deteriorate due to age, and current solar power capacity is limited, providing only minimal electricity to operate a few electric fans. In the coming year, we plan to repair the building and install additional solar panels to create a safer and more stable learning environment.
As outlined in this project, strengthening the child-care center is essential to equipping children with basic skills, reducing the risk of school dropouts, and fostering dignity and hope within the community. We appreciate your continued interest and support.
In 2026, we remain committed to nurturing each child’s potential and working alongside the community toward a more secure and hopeful future.
Thank you for standing with our children,
