Woreda 14 in Nefas Silk Lafto Sub-City, Addis Ababa, faces severe socioeconomic challenges, with high levels of poverty, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure. Among the most vulnerable are 100 single mothers and their children, who suffer from malnutrition, lack of education, and limited economic opportunities. This project will empower these women through business training, financial support, and child development initiatives, breaking the cycle of poverty and ensuring sustainable change
Unemployed single mothers struggle to provide for their families, leading to extreme financial hardship. Children suffer from malnutrition, poor health, and lack of education, resulting in long-term consequences. The absence of intervention leaves these families trapped in a cycle of poverty, affecting the wider community. Without sustainable income opportunities, these women remain vulnerable to economic and social marginalization.
This project will uplift 100 vulnerable women and their children by addressing economic instability and child welfare through: 1. Economic Empowerment: Business management training, financial literacy, and access to microcredit for small-scale businesses. 2. Child Protection & Development: Parenting workshops and distribution of early childhood educational materials. 3. Sustainability & Community Engagement: Formation of savings groups, mentorship programs, and collaboration with local agencies.
Economic Resilience: Women gain financial stability, reducing dependence on aid. Child Welfare Improvement: Better nutrition, cognitive development, and school attendance. Stronger Communities: Empowered women contribute to local economies and advocate for social change. Sustainable Growth: Partnerships with government and NGOs ensure continuous support beyond the project timeline. This initiative will restore dignity and hope, creating brighter futures for vulnerable families.
