PROJECT PROGRESS REPORT
Empowering Vulnerable Women in Rural Bauchi State, Nigeria
A Quiet But Steady Beginning
When we launched this project, we did so with a clear conviction: that the women of rural Bauchi State — often invisible to policy, overlooked by opportunity, and underserved by development — deserve a chance to change their own stories. That conviction has not wavered. If anything, it has grown stronger with every interaction we have had on the ground.
We are writing this report not to present gleaming numbers or dramatic transformation — not yet. We are writing it to be honest with you, and to invite you into the journey at a moment when your support would mean everything.
Where We Stand Today
Our project is live on GlobalGiving, and we are grateful for every donor who has taken a step of faith with us. However, we must acknowledge with transparency that funding to date has been modest. We have not yet received the level of support needed to carry out the full scope of our planned activities — skills training, seed grants, cooperative group formation, and literacy support for vulnerable women across rural communities in Bauchi State.
This does not discourage us. The need is real, the framework is ready, and the women are waiting.
What We Have Done With What We Have
Even without full funding, our team has remained active. We have conducted community sensitization visits across three local government areas in Bauchi State, meeting with women groups, traditional leaders, and community gatekeepers. Over 400 women have been identified and have expressed readiness to participate in the programme. We have mapped the most vulnerable households — widows, women with disabilities, and female-headed families living below the poverty line.
In short, the groundwork is laid. What is missing is the resources to build on it.
The Women Behind This Campaign
In Bauchi State, rural women wake before dawn to farm, fetch water, sell produce, and raise children — often without a husband's support, without savings, and without any formal safety net. Many have never entered a classroom. Most have never had access to a loan. Yet they are resourceful, resilient, and deeply motivated to improve their lives if given even the smallest window of opportunity.
This project exists to open that window. A few weeks of skills training, a small startup grant, a savings cooperative — these are not luxuries. For these women, they are transformative.
-An Honest Appeal
We know there are many causes competing for your attention and your generosity. We are not asking you to choose us blindly. We are asking you to visit our page on GlobalGiving, read our full project description, and consider whether the women of rural Bauchi have earned a place in your heart.
If they have, a donation — no matter the size — moves us one step closer to doing what we promised them: showing up, and not giving up.
Visit our project on GlobalGiving and support the Empowering Vulnerable Women in Bauchi State initiative. Share our page with someone who cares. Every visit, every share, and every donation is a real act of solidarity with women who have been waiting far too long for the world to notice them.
