We are partnering with local communities to build sustainable clean water sources for 271 families in remote regions of Bolivia.
Rural communities without clean water sources must use contaminated open water sources for their daily needs. This causes frequent illness caused by parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These illnesses are the leading cause of death in young children in this region. The existing water sources are contaminated with heavy metals from nearby mining activity and damage the developing brains of infants and children during critical periods of growth.
The Global Midwife Education Foundation is partnering with 8 communities and the local Ministry of Health to fund and build sustainable sources of clean water for 271 families.
Having clean water to drink reduces malnutrition caused by frequent illness and protects developing brains from damage. This allows kids to stay healthy, stay in school, and reach their full potential.
