Break Barriers: Yasmin Bibi Girls College

Dear supporters!

An awareness session on Violence Against Women was successfully conducted at Yasmin Bibi Girls College as part of our ongoing efforts to promote student safety, awareness, and empowerment. The session was attended by more than 100 female students from different academic programs. The objective of the session was to raise awareness about different forms of violence against women, their social and psychological impacts, and the importance of speaking up and seeking support. The Principal of the college addressed the students and stressed the importance of a safe learning environment, personal safety, self-respect, and mutual respect within society. She emphasized that educational institutions must serve as safe spaces where young women can learn, grow, and express themselves without fear. Students were encouraged to recognize unacceptable behaviors, understand their basic rights, and seek help from trusted sources when needed. The session also highlighted the role of education in challenging harmful social norms and promoting gender equality. The event concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students shared their thoughts and asked questions, reflecting strong engagement and interest in the topic. Such awareness activities are regularly organized at Yasmin Bibi Girls College to support the holistic development of students and to foster a culture of safety, confidence, and awareness among young women.

Introduction
This quarter focused on strengthening student skills, fostering innovation, and creating meaningful opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Although the college remained closed for summer vacations during part of this period, our team and students continued to engage in academic, co-curricular, and developmental activities that contributed to their holistic growth.

1. Talent Test for Students Seeking Admission in 11th Grade
A Talent Test was organized to evaluate students aspiring to join the 11th grade. This initiative not only assessed their academic readiness but also provided a transparent mechanism for awarding scholarships. High-performing students were granted merit-based concessions, ensuring financial challenges do not become a barrier to education.

2. Computer Literacy Classes
Regular computer literacy classes were held for students. These sessions built foundational digital skills, including typing, use of essential software, and internet safety. By enhancing digital fluency, we are equipping students with critical tools for both academic progress and future employability.

3. Sports for Development Program (Supported by GIZ)
With the support of GIZ, a Sports for Development program was successfully
implemented. Through structured sports and games, students developed life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. The program also encouraged gender inclusion, helping girls break barriers and use sports as a medium for personal growth and physical well-being.

4. Science Innovation: Antibacterial Soap Production
In April, 12th-grade science students undertook an innovative soap-making project in the college laboratory. They successfully produced antibacterial soap, applying chemistry concepts in a real-world context. This project not only deepened their scientific understanding but also underscored the importance of hygiene in community health—demonstrating the transformative power of
hands-on learning.

Conclusion
The May–July quarter was marked by significant progress across academics, skills development, and student-led initiatives, despite the summer break. From talent-based admissions and digital literacy to sports inclusion and scientific innovation, our institution continues to provide well-rounded education that empowers young women.
