As the school year is coming to an end, Boys and Girls Clubs across the country are very busy with their homework programs helping children and youth to finish off their school year successfully. Homework programs at Boys and Girls Clubs is critical in helping young people succeed with their education, which forms one of the primary basis for their success later on in life.
One of the most important homework programs we have is Power Up! Recipient Clubs cater the program to the needs and interest of the young people they serve. The following are some examples:
• Reading circles
• English as a Second Language support
• Internet safety sessions
• Lego building challenges
• Arts and crafts
• Public library visits
• Use of educational apps
• Writing and storytelling workshops
• Read-a-thon
Young people clearly benefit from the program. We’re happy to share a couple of testimonials with you, outlining the impact of the program:
“Power Up! really helped me with my homework during the school year, and prepared me to enter grade 7” – 13 year old participant, Edmonton, AB
Thank you once again for your support of Homework programs at Boys and Girls Clubs in Canada.
