In the photo are women-headed households who received booster grants for shop improvement in Mpigi District.
Each woman received a mixed carton of fast-moving retail items including Fortune cooking oil, Asante tomato paste, salt, soap, and other food items worth $50 per business, as listed on our GlobalGiving donation options.
These women previously operated with very little stock. Some sold from a basin or a small wooden table. Customers would pass by because the shops looked empty. Today, as you can see in the photo, they are smiling as they unpack their new stock.
During our quarterly business training, we also taught them:
How to price and make small profit
How to record daily sales
How to save in their village group
How to add value by packing and displaying well
Impact Already Seen:
Shops are now full and attracting more daily customers
Average daily income moved from $1 to $4-$5
Families can now afford food and school requirements even in this rainy season
This is what your donation does $50 furnishes 1 small business with food items and gives a mother dignity.
We still have a gap of $19,821 to reach our goal of supporting 500 women. Each $50, $100, or $300 helps us reach more women like those in this photo.
