$300 grant has kept Sarah's kids in school

Sarah's new stock
Sarah's new stock

Before receiving her $300 Booster Grant, Sarah supported 3 children by selling 3-4 bunches of mangoes from a roadside table. Daily income averaged $0.50, and some days she sold nothing. Without capital to stock more goods, she made a painful plan: leave her children and take housemaid jobs in Kampala to send money home.

With the $300 grant plus quarterly business training, Sarah restocked her shop with water, sodas, soap, and basic food items that her community needs daily.

Three months later, her income is stable at $4-$5 per day. She bought new school uniforms and paid full term fees for all 3 children without borrowing. Most importantly, the idea of housemaid work is scrapped.

“My shop keeps my children fed and in school. I am home every evening with them. That is wealth,” Sarah says.
