As the 2017 summer job of our Program , Biodiversity Restoration Along the Tsurumi River (#25860),
We have carried out restoration works twice in July, twice in August, 3times in September mainly to remove an invading foreign climbing
plant species Sicyos angulatus(burr cucumber) that covers large
part of native marsh & grass land of Miscanthus sacchariflorus (Amur silver grass) now under the process of restoration in the riparian zone (about 2000) of the Tsurumi Riv. by Tsunashima, Yokohama City .
As the result of the work we successfuly are carrying out the process
of restorting the native marsh & grass land in this summer helping citizens and children enjoy safely the fresh riverside green area in various ways.
The climing plant Sicyos angulatus(burr cucumber) said came from North America half a century ago is the most viciously foreigin plant that suppress the regrowth of the native grass Miscanthus sacchariflorus .
We look forward to restore the major part of Miscanthus guras land by the spring of 2019.
