Spring has come to the Tsurumi-River Tsunashima River Green
Several warm days have turned the Tsunashima River Green Zone into green field.
Reed shoots sprout. Willow leaves extend. Small lovely flower plant (Veronica persicaa foreign but peacefully co-inhabiting the river side) is already in full bloom. Lady bird come out from long winter hibernation. And also children (in fact our utmost target mammalian species, at our field ) and their families come to the river side .
We have just begun to encourage sprouting native plant Hana-udo (Heracleum sphondylium var. nipponicum) by removing encroaching invasive and pollen allergy causing grass species Lolium sp. If let it be the grass grows during winter thorough to spring and matures in June making slender ears that produce and spread large amount of allergy causing pollen into the atmosphere.
t takes still several more weeks for our main target plant species of restoration Ogi to sprout out from the river side soil.
