Dear Supporter,
Because of your generous support, we are on track to distribute our next batch of bicycles to Community Based Vaccinators (CBVs) before the end of this year. As December approaches, our team at the Rural Poultry Centre (RPC) is busy finalising logistics to get these wheels on the ground.
In rural Malawi, village chickens are a ubiquitous and vital lifeline. They provide protein, essential income, and a safety net for families. However, Newcastle disease - known locally as chitopa - can wipe out entire flocks in days. Our trained CBVs are the front-line heroes fighting this threat, and your support is giving them the mobility they need to succeed.
Transform impact
By upgrading a vaccinator from walking to pedalling, you transform rural poultry health in three practical ways:
Protecting Vaccine Potency: Vaccinations must be kept cool. Bicycles drastically cut travel times under the hot sun, ensuring the vaccine remains effective.
Reaching More Families: Pedal power allows a single vaccinator to visit many more households each day.
Flexible Timing: Vaccinators can easily reach distant homes in the early morning or late afternoon when chickens can be caught and vaccinated.
Help Us Keep the Momentum Rolling
We will soon share news of our upcoming bicycle distribution. We want the world to know that a simple bicycle is a key tool for sustainable, grass-roots change.
With your help we can do more of this. For every vaccinator we equip this month, many more in neighbouring areas are still covering vast distances on foot. We want to keep this momentum rolling straight into the new year. A bicycle is a practical, low-cost investment that instantly doubles a vaccinator’s capacity to protect livelihoods. You can fund a whole bicycle today, or donate a fraction of one and leave it to us to put the pieces together.
Thank you for pedalling toward change with us. Together, we are rolling out resilience across Malawi!
With heartfelt gratitude,
