Benin, a country with high inequalities and poverty, has difficulty providing educational opportunities for children, especially in rural areas. The project aims to promote access to early childhood education in Collines Department, in particular to the village of Kpossegan. Bibi&Bibo nursery school will daily host 50 children. Aleimar will conduct learning and play activities, supply daily meals, train educational staff, provide educational materials and the infrastructure will be renovated.
Benin is a low-income country with a low human development index and widespread poverty, especially in rural areas. Due to the lack of nursery schools, many families cannot access early childhood care services, forcing children to accompany their parents to the fields. The school completion rate fell during the last few years. This scenario highlights the urgency of interventions by improving access to childcare services in rural areas.
A twinning with Bibi&Bibo nursery school in Melzo (Milan) led to the opening of Bibi&Bibo nursery school in Kpossegan, a rural village in central Benin. This facility hosts 50 children aged 0-5, providing a secure environment for early childhood development. Aleimar will conduct learning and play activities, supply daily meals, train educational staff, provide materials and equipment necessary to develop recreational activities and renovate the infrastructure and essential services.
The project will enhance access to early childhood education of 50 children across Collines Department, focusing specifically on Kpossegan and its neighboring communities. The activities of Bibi&Bibo nursery school will foster significant advancements in children's cognitive, emotional and social development. This initiative will establish a solid foundation for lifelong learning and well-being, ensuring that all children in the region have equitable opportunities to succeed from an early age.
