In late November, Can'd Aid was contacted by The Arc of Weld County, "an advocacy organization focused on protecting the rights of individuals with intellecual and developmental disabilities." The organization was interested in providing an up to $2,500 match for all donations to the Berthoud Adaptive Park Project in the month of December.
Can'd Aid and Lauren Bowling, the mother of Miles, who inspired the park project, mobilized immediately to leverage this match locally. Together, we created a campaign called #BerthoudGives, offering local businesses a turnkey way to raise funds for the park both directly and indirectly. Businesses were asked to donate a portion of sales from December 3rd-10th, and we ultimately got fourteen businesses on board to participate. Amazingly, we do not yet have a total from this campaign, because many of the businesses decided to extend their fundraising efforts through the end of the year. However, we did reach our match goal of $2,500 in one day, when an individual donor was inspired by the story and donated the full amount!
In other great news, Can'd Aid also received a $4,000 grant from the Berthoud area chapter of the Northern Colorado Community Foundation, as well as an additional $3,500 end-of-year donation from a repeat donor. Can'd Aid excited for the new year where we intend to continue working on ways to creativily fundraise and enhance our grantwriting efforts.
Hello Supporters!
A lot has happened since our last report - including a very successful lemonade stand fundraiser where we raised $13,000 selling lemonade, hot dogs and baked goods! Community members of all types came out in force - exemplifying Can'd Aid's mission of rallying people from all walks of life to make their communities a better place.
Can'd Aid has also been working on diversifying our funding through grantwriting efforts - recently completing requests from the Pomar Foundation, Republic Services, John G. Duncan Charitable Trust, and the Community Foundation of Northern Colordado. In addition to writing grants, we have also created a sponsorship deck (attached) for local businesses and organizations to purchase and piece of equipment, complete with customized equipment sponsorship and corporate volunteer opportunities!

Hi First Name,
Going once, going twice! Through Can'd Aid's participation in the Barrett-Jackson charity car auction, a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Custom 6x6--nicknamed "The Savage Bull"--sold for $150,000 and was then donated back to sell again! In total, the two generous bidders raised $250,000 with proceeds benefiting Can'd Aid's Berthoud Adaptive Park Project!
Check out the inspirational video that we created for this once-in-a-lifetime fundraising experience!
Though raising $250,000 in one day is certainly tough news to top, that's not all that we have to share. Playground designer, Star Playgrounds, completed renderings of the design (see photos below), and Can'd Aid's Berthoud Adaptive Park Project was featured on Denver7 and in NoCo Style Magazine as well!
Also, if you haven't heard, Edwards Development has committed to a $100,000 match - with the goal of challenging other supporters to join in and turn their $100k into $200k by May 19th, in honor of Miles Bowling's birthday. Please consider making a donation today - let's give the Bowling family something extra special to celebrate!
I look forward to sharing more good news with you soon!

Though fundraising efforts for the Berthoud Adaptive Park Project have been slower going on the GlobalGiving platform, both grassroots fundraising efforts and grant requests have grown exponentially since launching this project. Can'd Aid formed a relationship with local business Berthoud Brewing Company, who signed on to be a fundraising partner and ongoing supporter of the project, cementing a pillar of support from a popular gathering place within the community. To kick off our new partnership, Berthoud Brewing committed to matching $5,030 in funds and hosted a party complete with a silent auction to jumpstart the process. In response, park developer Edwards Development committed to an additional $5,030, helping Can'd Aid achieve our original matching grant challenge of $25,000 from the Braly Family Foundation - getting us to nearly $65,000 for the year.
Fundraising aside, the planning process continues to move forward with design plans being submitted to the Town of Berthoud for approval and park renderings underway.
I look forward to continuing to update you on this project!
