Summary

In 2010, Benjamin Lambson served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Liberia, where he developed a deep love for the people and witnessed their strong commitment to education. He also saw families struggling with poverty, unemployment, and limited opportunities. Despite these hardships, parents and children showed remarkable faith and resilience. Inspired by their sacrifices, the Benjamin Lambson Scholarship Fund was established to cover school fees, uniforms, etc.

Challenge

In Liberia, many children dream of education but face heartbreaking barriers. Poverty and unemployment force families to focus on survival, leaving children farming, petty trading, or caring for siblings instead of attending school. The cost of uniforms, books, registration, and exams remains out of reach for many families, while children continue holding onto hope for a brighter future.

Solution

The Benjamin Lambson Scholarship Fund is a lifeline of hope for children in rural communities of Liberia who are determined to learn but held back by financial hardship. It provides full educational support, including registration and maintenance fees, uniforms, school shoes, textbooks, learning materials, and examination costs. Beyond financial assistance, the program also offers mentorship and continuous monitoring to encourage regular attendance and academic progress.

Long-Term Impact

The Scholarship Fund is designed to bring lasting change to communities across Liberia by directly supporting vulnerable children to stay in school and complete their education. By removing financial barriers, the program helps these children remain in classrooms instead of dropping out due to poverty and hardship. As a result, more children will complete primary and secondary education, improving their chances for future employment, stability, and independence.
