The Community Scholarships program is now more than necessary for young high school students to continue with their studies, in a context where job insecurity due to confinements and few job opportunities have reduced family economies. Most of the scholarship recipients come from families where their livelihood comes from agricultural or service activities, such as bricklayers, merchants, drivers, etc., which have seen their chances of keeping their jobs reduced or have seen purchases and income decrease.
In this period we have been able to deliver the first scholarships to young people from 3 communities: Villa de Tamazulapam, Santa María Yaviche and San Juan Bautista Cuicatlán. This support has been very significant for the students, as it allows them to cover some expenses or support their parents.
We thank our donors and allies in this project, mainly the educational authorities who have promoted the program in their schools and have followed up on its success.
We recognize that the current pandemic continues to wreak havoc, not only in the field of health, but also in the precariousness of communities, which is why it is necessary to continue promoting those projects that impact families directly.
