Here come the Guys

By Lesley Morris | Operations Manager

Cancer treatment can take its toll on your body, and when you receive a diagnosis there are so many things to think about that skin care can seem like one of the least important to think about.

The same drugs that kill off the cancer cells also effect the growth of skin cells.  Skin can become dry, sensitive, irritated and fragile.  The complexion can change becoming a yellow or grey colour, and nails become brittle and cracked.

For many years, Teens Unite, have offered workshops to help the young women we support to deal with these chemo-effects.  The workshops have helped to build confidence by offering professional tips to help them come to terms with their new appearance.

And, since our last update we have been working with the team at Look Good Feel Better to help the Guys deal with their new skin care needs.   We’re also bringing in some of the UK’s leading barbers who will be helping the young men style and care for their post-chemo hair, which can return with a completely different texture and colour.

We will be heading to the iconic Broadgate Tower in London’s Financial District for this workshop, at the end of November.  The views from the room are stunning and always add to the magic of the day.

When we report next time, we will update you on the day and share some images.

To everyone who has supported the project, a HUGE Thank You!
