Showing the world your true colours

By Lesley Morris | Operations Manager

Gentle skin cleansing and maintaining the hydration of skin so often compromised by cancer treatment is important, and the lovely ladies from Look Good Feel Better started the most recent Beauty Workshop with some advice, and some demonstrations for the eight new young ladies who joined us for this day.

We headed to a new venue in Westfield, Stratford, the home of Morphe – a make up brand very popular with the young people we support, renowned for their incredible colour palettes and for pushing the boundaries, making a real impact.

After the skin care, came the make up techniques that Look Good Feel Better regularly share with the Teens – the techniques help to recreate eyebrows and the effect of eye lashes, so often lost with cancer treatment.  They taught the young ladies some contouring techniques, which also help to restore some confidence and support the Teens in getting to know their new look.

The young ladies then got to know each other over a delicious lunch at The Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) – a firm favourite with all our beneficiaries!  They talked about everything from music, to fashion, make up to movies, and everything in between. It is a wonderful thing to see these young people, who haven't met before, form such great bonds over such a short period of time, and we know that the connections continue after the workshop ends.

After lunch we made our way back to Morphe and met up with some of their incredible make up artists who showed us how to create some truly vibrant eye shadow looks with their amazing palettes.  Their vision of showing the word your true, vivid, exploding colours really did come to life.

At the end of this day of pampering the young people had made some great connections with others who really know what it’s like to face cancer at a young age.  They also received a fantastic goodie bag from the Look Good Feel Better team which they could take home and recreate the looks, as well as continuing to take care of their skin.

To everyone who has supported this project, and huge thank you. Your generosity is helping us to support young people fighting cancer to live their best life, while others search for a cure.
