Be Their Support: Delivering Hope to Syria's Older Generation

In the heart of Lattakia Governorate, where access to healthcare is a daily struggle, hope is now arriving on four wheels. Thanks to this generous funding from GlobalGiving, Hope Revival Organization (HRO) has launched "Mobile Clinics: Hope on Wheels," a vital initiative bringing essential public health services directly to the doorsteps of the most vulnerable older people in the communities of Lattakia and Al-Haffa sub-districts.

For thousands of older people, individuals with disabilities, and those battling chronic illnesses in these underserved areas, life is a silent struggle. Dire conditions and a lack of basic medical care have turned manageable conditions into life-threatening crises, eroding resilience and dimming hope. But together, we are changing that narrative.

From May to July 2025, our two mobile health teams became a lifeline, rolling into communities to deliver care, comfort, and dignity. The impact of this mission is reflected in the numbers and the lives behind them:

Our Impact in Lattakia Governorate (May - July 2025):

A total of 419 older people (50+) were reached, with 229 served in Lattakia and 190 in Al-Haffa. Their journey to better health took many forms:

Healing at Home: 147 beneficiaries, 81 in Lattakia, and BNFs in Al-Haffa, received door-to-door medical consultations, ensuring urgent treatments and ongoing follow-up care for those unable to travel.
Knowledge is Power: 240 individuals, 130 in Lattakia, and 110 in Al-Haffa, participated in face-to-face health and nutrition awareness sessions, empowering them and their families with the knowledge to prevent common diseases and practice essential self-care.
A Continuum of Care: 32 older people, 18 in Lattakia, and 14 in Al-Haffa, with specialized needs were identified and seamlessly referred to appropriate services using an updated service map, guaranteeing they receive comprehensive support.

Furthermore, in every interaction, our teams integrated key messages on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and informed beneficiaries of the available complaint channels, ensuring a safe and accountable environment for all.

The Journey is Not Over: How You Can Help Us Continue the Mission

While we celebrate this progress, the need remains urgent. To keep our mobile clinics running and expand their lifesaving reach, we need your continued support. With your help, we can provide:

Lifesaving Medications: Essential treatments for chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease for those who cannot afford them.
Mobility and Independence: Assistive devices for older people and people with disabilities, restoring their ability to move and live independently.
Care for Mothers and Children: Specialized healthcare, including medical follow-ups, nutritional support, and basic vaccinations for the youngest and most vulnerable.

Together, we can ensure that hope remains on the move, reaching those who need it most.
