Reliable transportation at BBR is a lifeline for birds in need all over Belize, but we are now without a vehicle of our own. We need $15,000 to get us back on the road and saving little lives.
Our last running vehicle finally gave up in November. As the only multi-species avian rescue and rehabilitation center in Belize it is imperative we are able to reach those in need reliably and rapidly.
A new vehicle will allow us to meet the needs of wildlife around the country while also saving much needed funds for other purposes. A more cost efficient newer vehicle will also help with the very high fuel costs in Belize and drastically reduce maintenance expenses. More importantly it will allow us to continue our 24 hour countrywide rescue service!
Reliable transportation will allow us to continue our work and expand even more. A BBR truck serves many functions besides rescues, releases and vet trips. We travel to nests for health checks and extractions. We transport birds and other animals in need from monkeys to tapirs! We use it on and off property to collect supplies, forage for fruits, gather enrichment and perching. We assist Police & Forest Departments in enforcement, and we travel for community outreach. It is truly a lifeline.
