Bathroom facility for disabled children in Moldova

Subject: Final report.

We reached our financial goal and are currently now waiting for the funding to be released so that we can start the execution of the project.  In the meantime, we are working with a contractor to complete the bathroom design and incorporate it to the master renovation plan.   The bathroom project will take us approximately three months to complete providing that the weather is favorable during the winter months. 

Since the winning of the challenge and receiving membership into the GlobalGiving community, we have experienced the following changes:

• We received a motorized wheelchair for one of our kids. He had been bed ridden but this chair has given him a very precious liberty.
• We received a renewed commitment from some of our donors.
• We received a renewed pledge for support from the local government.
• A donor secured the lease of a nearby room in a local house to enable the center to provide therapy to some of the village kids who can’t travel to the capital city.
• In general, our supporting community pulled together not only to help us win the challenge but also to continue making a difference for our children.

We are also working on another project submission to raise funds for the roof and the second phase of our master plan, a therapy room. This project will take us a bit longer to not only raise the funds but also to complete the renovation. However, we will be able to have a safe bathroom facility with flush toilets which will prevent the kids from having to go outside to use the toilet facilities.

We are deactivating this project because we reached our goal and will now start working on completing the project.  We will keep you posted on the progress of our project.
